Earlier this month, we talked about how you can improve your winter morning commute. Now, we’re talking gift ideas for that person in your life who has to make that early commute to work on a daily basis. Here are eight great gift ideas that your commuting friend, spouse, or family member is sure to appreciate.
Travel mug
A warm drink or fresh ice water is always appreciated during a morning commute, and a travel mug does a great job of making transporting that drink easy and convenient. A good one will keep hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold for several hours.
Music player
Many use their phones to store their music, but usually the storage capacity on a phone isn’t large enough to fit an entire library’s worth of music. If your friend or loved one doesn’t yet have a portable music player, now is a great time to get one for them, as they can easily plug a portable music player into their car stereo to listen to music as they drive.
Music
Or, you could simply give them more music to listen to, be it in the form of CDs, MP3s, or a gift card. You could even make them a “morning mix” CD or playlist.
eBooks
eBooks are another great thing to listen to during the morning commute, but many resist getting them because of the cost. Pick out an eBook or two, or give them a gift card to an online eBook retailer.
Bluetooth adapter
Even if their car doesn’t have a built-in stereo setup that features Bluetooth, you can get a Bluetooth adaptor for the car port that makes listening to music wirelessly almost just as easy.
In-car phone charger
Nothing’s worse than a nearly-dead phone at the beginning of the workday with no way to charge it. An in-car phone charger makes for a great stocking stuffer that will make your friend’s or family member’s workday run much more smoothly.
Driving gloves
A cold steering wheel during the winter months doesn’t make for a fun commute, either. Consider getting them some nice driving gloves with touchscreen capability for added convenience. (They don’t text and drive, right? Right.)
Garage door
If your home could use an update on its garage door, consider getting one as a holiday gift for your spouse. An insulated garage door will help regulate the temperature in your garage so that a parked car will be as comfortable as possible inside, which is great if your spouse parks his or her car in the garage after work every day.
